Sustainable tourism: our commitments

Travel Coach Chile > Our agency > Sustainable tourism: our commitments

Our vision of responsible travel

We are aware that every trip has some environmental impact. Of course, the idea is not to stop traveling but rather to do it responsibly, trying to reduce your ecological footprint as much as possible. To do this, we encourage our travelers to travel less but better.

At Travel Coach Chile, these are the 4 pillars that allow us to offer our travelers tours off the beaten track and socially and ecologically responsible

  • The choice of small, locally owned structures that embrace cultural heritage
  • The creation of alternative experiences to visit the highlights in a different way
  • The development of lesser-known regions to deepen knowledge of the country
  • Suggestions for public transportation and alternatives to avoid internal flights

Why choose our responsible trips ?

Support for local communities

We always encourage visitors to favour alternatives to major tourist sites, which allows us to work with localcommunities, sometimes isolated. By promoting these points of interest and working hand in hand with them, we participate in their economic and social development. We therefore offer immersive stays with the Aymara, Likan Antai or Mapuche communities.

Authentic relationships with our local service providers

We have developed a relationship based on trust with our service providers, who share the same values as us. We carefully choose local providers for the quality and authenticity of their services. We remunerate them fairly and equitably, always before the performance of the services.

A Slow Travel philosophy

We are convinced of the interest of Slow Travel, and are happy to organize holidays to slow down, deepen the knowledge of a region, and move around in a conscious way. We are actively developing a range of trips that only include public transportation, in order to limit the local carbon footprint. Have you ever thought about sailing between Patagonian fjords on a cargo ferry? Or why not road trip across the Patagonian roads in a van? For us, Slow Travel means taking time to take the time.

The development of an itinerary offer off-season to avoid the crowds

Even if South America, and especially Chile, remain confidential destinations, it is important to put in place good practices to avoid overcrowding tourist sites. That’s why we encourage our travelers to set the dates of their stay outside of peak seasons. For example, autumn is a very beautiful season to discover Patagonia, while winter allows budding adventurers to flourish in the Atacama Desert at cheaper prices.

Our commitment to sustainable tourism

Our Mission

We believe that each trip should be tailor-made, because every traveler is unique. We like to develop a trus relationship with our customers and work with reliable and authentic local partners.

We believe that tourism cancontribute to the development of equitable local economic growth and have a positive social impact. We aim to reduce mass tourism and encourage travelers to open up to other realities by observing a new culture and immersing themselves in nature. We also hope to encourage more sustainable practices and reduce negative impacts on the social and natural environment.

We work with the latest technology available to ensure that not only our customers’ experience is exceptional but also that our team is having access to the most user-friendly softwares and technological material. So that they can focus on what matters the most : creating a relationship with travelers and partners.

Our Sustainable Policy

Like many travel enthusiasts, we are concerned about the human impact on biodiversity and would like to better protect the environment. We believe that it is just as necessary to adopt responsible behaviors at the end of the world as it is close to home. To do this, we are developing a sustainable development policy that aims to inform and encourage good practices internally, but also among our passengers and counterparties. You can view it here.

In May 2024, we became a Travel Life Partner, the second level of commitment in the certification process of Travel Life, one of the leading organizations for the implementation of sustainable practices in the tourism industry. This work of + 6 months allowed us to strengthen the many initiatives we already had in place, but also to create a 2-year action plan.

Our 3 major projects for 2024

Establish a carbon offsetting policy for the agency’s emissions with a local reforestation organization in Araucanía, as well as sponsor an NGO on the protection of endemic animals in San Pedro de Atacama

Communicate with our providers and partners about the various measures they could implement to reduce their impact. Whether it is through the elimination of single-use plastics or the installation of a system to reduce water use in hotels.

Communicate transparently and clearly to our travellers on the alternatives available to themas transportation (alternatives to flights or private transfers), activities and destinations.
