You will then be ready to explore the vibrant Chilean metropolis. Plaza de Armas, the historical neighborhood, and San Cristobal Hill are must-see stops on your city tour. Finish the day with a nice traditional meal in the bohemian neighborhood Bellavista.

Day 2On the way to Patagonia

The next step of your South American trip starts today. In the morning, your driver will take you to the international airport of Santiago, where you will catch a flight to Punta Arenas to start your trip to Patagonia. Welcome to the heart of the Chilean Patagonia! At the airport, a transfer will be waiting for you.

You are on your way to the city of Punta Arenas. You will have plenty of time to explore this traditional Patagonian city! Do not forget to visit La Costanera del Estrecho (the ocean front), the central market, and the house of pioneer José Menéndez. Reach the Cerro de la Cruz lookout for an incredible 360-degree view of the surroundings. From there, you will be able to admire austral seas, la Tierra del Fuego and even Brunswick peninsula.

Overnight: Yuega Loca, Punta Arenas

Day 3Explore Magdalena Penguin Island

Today is your lucky day: you will get to meet a full colony of Magellanic penguins! Local experts will take you on a sailing expedition into the natural reserve of Magdalena Island. The island is home to a huge colony of small penguins and natural beauty. You will experience wonderful sightseeing and encounters with adorable penguins on this adventure.

After visiting this spectacular reserve, your driver will take you to Puerto Natales on a 2.5-hour road trip. The drive through Patagonian landscapes is a wonder in and of itself!

Then, you will be able to explore Puerto Natales. The village is on the coast of Ultima Esperanza (“Last Hope”) and embodies the Patagonian spirit with its vibrant colored houses and mystical landscapes. Enjoy a walk on the seaside with breathtaking views. Make a stop at Puerto Boris, an old industrial complex remodeled into a luxury hotel that is considered national patrimony.

Day 4The authentic estancia experience

Experience the traditional estancia way of life at one of the most beautiful ranches in Patagonia. The estancia is hidden and only accessible by boat, which makes it a refuge for animals and native species. The day will be full of adventures, delicious lamb barbecue, sheepdogs, and stunning landscapes. This full day tour is a perfect way to live and learn about life at a Patagonian ranch and gaucho culture. Experience a horseback ride surrounded by mountains, pampa, and fjords. You will also be able to relax at the ranch, take a bird-watching walk with experienced guides, or go for a four-wheel off-road drive.

Along the way, you will appreciate the region’s diversity of native wildlife and discover millennial glaciers. On this full-day sailing tour, you will be able to observe the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers up close. You will get spectacular views of the Campo del Hielo Sur (“Southern Ice Field”) and native Patagonian forests. This is an essential yet secret journey in Patagonia!

Once you arrive in Torres del Paine, feel free to take a walk and explore the treasures of Patagonia.

Overnight: Pampa Lodge, Torres del Paine National Park

Day 6Spectacular guided hike in Torres del Paine

Today you will get to explore Torres del Paine National Park through a once-in-a-lifetime hike!

Day 7 Cruising on Lake Grey and its millennial glaciers

For your last day at Torres del Paine National Park, hop on board this cruise. The excursion will get you as close as possible to the Grey Glacier. The glacier is part of the Southern Ice Fields and is located in the western sector. It is a huge ice mass approximately 3.7 miles wide and 98 feet high! This cruise will gift you amazing views of the glacier, the lake, and the park. The Grey cruise is a tour that you simply cannot miss during a stay in Patagonia.

After the excursion, a transfer will take you back to Puerto Natales for your last night in Patagonia.
