The best vineyards for an exceptional weekend in Chile

Travel Coach Chile > Uncategorized > The best vineyards for an exceptional weekend in Chile

The most beautiful boutique hotels, in the heart of Chilean vineyards.

Chile is a country whose wines are recognized worldwide in the realm of oenology, but remain relevately unknown to the general international public. Even if the richness and quality of Chile’s wine heritage is still a well-kept secret from foreigners, the wine culture is impossible to miss once you arrive in Santiago. Here, the majority of the wine that is found and served in restaurants is Made In Chile. And that’s great news! The wine industry and culture in Chile, although still young compared to that of Europe, is based on a beautiful variety of grapes and vines that are the envy of other wine exporting countries.

For connoisseurs who want to go beyond a simple tasting, for lovers of epicurean wines, and for amateur wine drinkers, we offer the discovery of these vineyards a little more in depth.

Ideal for an extended weekend or for a multi-day getaway, join us on the Chilean wine route, andtake advantage of their peaceful settings to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, or treat yourself just because. Cut off from the rest of the world between vineyards and bodegas, here is our selection of the most beautiful hotels located in Chilean vineyards.

An historic, timeless hotel in Maipo Valley

The Maipo Valley is the oldest wine valley in Chile. It stretches from the Andes to the Pacific! It is home to Chile’s two oldest wine producers: Concha y Toro and Viña Santa Rita. For a weekend of disconnection close to the capital, the hotel located in Viña Santa Rita, the Casa Real Hotel, is a beautiful home base. More traditional than modern, this estate dating back to the nineteenth century will offer you, above all, a brief change of scenery in the heart of the vineyards in an exceptional setting. Of course, as a main activity, we offer one or more tastings of the wines produced on site. Whether you explore on foot or by bike, there is something for everyone. The vineyard has many other facilities to help clear your mind for a weekend: tranquil gardens, a refined restaurant, a café, and of course a wine shop. As a bonus? The Andean Museum is located within the estate and is worth a visit.

An exclusive Relais & Chateaux

Clos Apalta Residence Lapostolle

South of Santiago is the famous Colchagua Valley. It is the region of Chile that has most developed wine tourism. The region, just a few hours from the capital, is full of vineyards, cellars and wineries. It’s a bit of a paradise for wine lovers! There are large domestic producers, but our favorite vineyards in the region are undoubtedly these small innovative estates and their on-site shops.

A must-see in the central region is the Clos Apalta Residence, the boutique hotel on the Viña Lapostolle estate. The hotel and restaurant is one of the few Relais & Châteaux in Chile; it is a remarkable haven of peace in the heart of the vineyards. The wines are exceptional and so is the restaurant. In the kitchen, a team of chefs prepares a special menu to pair with each wine from the Lapostolle vineyard, based on organic produce from their garden and seasonal products. The setting is incomparable: the modern design combines harmoniously with nature and vineyards. For a romantic, secluded activity, you can enjoy a bike ride through the vineyards and hikes on the trails of the surrounding forests. It goes without saying, a private tasting in the cellar is not to be missed under any circumstances.

An avant-garde domain, like nowhere else you have seen

domain vik chili

We couldn’t write a blog post about weekend getaways in Chilean vineyards without bringing up Viña Vik! The vineyard is located in the Millahue Valley, just 125 miles from Santiago de Chile. In the heart of this huge wine estate there are of course vineyards, but also valleys, forests, and untouched lakes. However, what will impress you first is undoubtedly the striking contrast of nature with the estate’s avant-garde design. Created by a visionary Norwegian entrepreneur, La Viña Vik offers its guests a prestigious hotel, a spa, a restaurant, and a wine that is as renowned as it is innovative. The estate offers many activities for a relaxing or active getaway: massages and treatments, horseback riding, mountain biking…there is something for everyone. It is a place like no other, the ideal playground for an indulgent escape.

Between comfort and tradition, a haven of peace

La Casona Matetic, hotel boutiqur du domaine Matetic

Now, we set our sights on the road to the Casablanca Valley and San Antonio, halfway between Santiago and Valparaíso. This valley is known for its white wines scented with the spray of the Pacific Ocean. In this emblematic area of wine-growing in Chile, you should make sure to visit Viña Matetic and La Casona, its boutique hotel. If you are looking for an escape near the capital or the coast, La Casona Matetic is simply the place to be. Located in a superb setting, time seems to stand still. In addition, the wines of the estate have an undeniable appeal: the vineyard collaborates with organic and biodynamic agriculture. We toast with their delicious Syrah.

We hope we have you convinced: a getaway to the Chilean vineyards is a must, whether you are just passing through or call the metropolitan area of Santiago home. The vineyards of Chile, between mountains and valleys, offer us an impressive landscape. It is a peaceful setting to escape for a long weekend, celebrate a special occasion, or simply enjoy the gastronomic richness of Chile.
