Day 1Immersive fauna trail in Torres del Paine

Wildlife lovers, today is your lucky day! A 4-mile-hike with your English-speaking  guide will take you through the beautiful steppe of Chilean Patagonia. There, you will experience the 4 seasons, all in one day! Your guide will explain the links between the elements and landscapes of Patagonia. He will also teach you about the flora and fauna found in the southernmost part of the world.

During this half-day “safari,” you will meet Guanacos (Lama guanicoe), who love open spaces. There are many on this secret hike. Visiting guanaco habitats also means you are likely to find Puma (Felis concolor) hunting grounds, Condors (Vultur gryphus), Andean Foxes (Lycalopex culpaeus), and many more native Chilean species. Pay close attention to your surroundings: spotting a puma is never guaranteed, but it is not out of the question.

During this trail in Torres del Paine National Park, you will certainly have many interactions and surprising encounters with animals!

Overnight: Pampa Lodge, Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 2Finding Huemules around Pehoe lake

Get ready for a full-day excursion around the superb Lake Pehoe. Near the famous Lago Pehoé, you will discover many unique shades of blue, from a milky gray to a deep sea green to a splendid turquoise. You guide will take you to visit impressive lakes, secret lagoons, and rivers, as well as wetlands and waterfalls.

After your visit to the Salto Grande waterfall, you will be guided on a short trail that takes you to the bottom of the imposing Cuernos formation. The spectacular landscape is sure to take your breath away! This day trip will allow you to discover true gems of Torres del Paine.

Overnight: Pampa Lodge, Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 3Discovering the hidden Pingo trail

Today’s adventure will take you to the hidden Pingo trail, an off-the-beaten-path site of Torres del Paine National Park.

This trails follows along the Pingo river for 3 miles before reaching a pristine waterfall. With your expert guide, you will hike through the native woods of Patagonia. This protected area is one of the only remaining rain forests in the park, which explains its great density of fauna and flora. Many plant and animal species find refuge in this place, now home to incredibly preserved fauna and flora. If you are lucky enough, you might even meet the rarest, most endangered South Andean deer, also called Huemul (Hippocamelus bisulcus). Beautiful orchids will also accompany your path.

Overnight: Pampa Lodge, Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 4Cruising towards Grey Glacier

Today, hop on board this spectacular tour. This cruise will allow you to observe Grey Glacier up close!

The glacier is part of the Southern Patagonia Ice Field and is located in the western sector. It is a huge ice mass approximately 4 miles wide and 100 feet high! This cruise will exhibit amazing views of the glacier, the lake, and the park. This boat ride will bring you very close to each of the three faces of Grey Glacier. This glacier is a must-see in Patagonia!

Overnight: Pampa Lodge, Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 5Relaxing at Laguna Azul

For your last day in Torres del Paine, your guide will take you to a special place: La Laguna Azul.

The lagoon, with its beautiful blue waters, is already an admirable sight. But, in addition to great sightseeing and relaxation in front of the lake, you will also enjoy a short wildlife hike on your way to the stunning Blue Lake. Many native Patagonian species will be visible during this fauna hike: Guanacos (Lama guanicoe, pictured below), Andean Foxes (Lycalopex culpaeus), Skunks (Conepatus humboldtii), Armadillos (Zaedyus pichiy), Lesser Rheas (Rhea pennata), and the famous Chilean Condors (Vultur gryphus). From Laguna Azul, if weather permits, you will enjoy the towers from afar accompanied by a tasty picnic.

More hikes are available around the lake for those who do not need a nap after lunch.

Continue your trip tomorrow with an Argentinian Patagonia travel, whale watching tour, or a full itinerary in Chilean Patagonia, alongside its penguins.
